GeoGrid

GeoGrid is an innovative interdisciplinary project that explores the benefits and applications of geothermal energy for decarbonisation in the UK.

Specifically, it examines how geothermal systems, such as the one at the University of Leeds, can help balance intermittent renewable energy sources to support a clean power system, thereby reducing our reliance on fossil fuels while lowering costs for households.

The project will use data from the University of Leeds’ Geothermal Campus Living Lab to assess scalable solutions for grid balancing that can be implemented across the UK.

Supported by Ofgem's Strategic Innovation Fund, the project brings together a consortium of partners to explore cutting-edge solutions to improve energy system efficiency and sustainability.
