We are a community of experts in geoscience, subsurface technology and infrastructure, and the social, political and environmental aspects of subsurface energy and critical minerals.

By combining our expertise and collaborating with partners across the civil service sector, academia, and industry, we deliver world-leading research to advance clean energy and decarbonisation.   

To use interdisciplinary research to:

• address the climate emergency and enhance knowledge of subsurface energy systems and critical mineral resources;  
• aid the delivery of the University's net-zero goals, on campus and in the region; 
• enable a wider net-zero energy transition as documented in the Climate Plan.
